(<em>Thank you very much, by the way<\/em>.) It aired yesterday at 9:15am on the <b><i>CBC News Morning Show<\/i><\/b> with host Suhana Merharchand. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">For those of you who missed it, here is a quick summary of the relevant points:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0cm;\" type=\"disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">We fail N.Y. resolutions because of the pressure we create for ourselves to change our life dramatically, often in the heat of the moment<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0cm;\" type=\"disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">We have a lack of planning of the details of how to carry out our new goal<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0cm;\" type=\"disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">We have a lack of confidence in achieving large goals, and often give ourselves permission to fail quite easily<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">What can we do?<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">We need to understand how our brain works, how our emotions work. <strong>PPP<\/strong> \u2013 the Pleasure-Pain Principle really affects us. Also we should understand that intrinsic motivation (<em>from inside<\/em>) is stronger than extrinsic motivation (<em>pressure from others<\/em>) to achieve goals. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">Use <b>BEST<\/b> goals to help organize yourself. <b>B<\/b>elievable, <b>E<\/b>nthusiastic, <b>S<\/b>pecific and <b>T<\/b>ime-limited. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial;\">Finally small achievements in goal-setting year-round build competence and confidence in yourself. I suggest calling them N.Y.
