{"id":1654,"date":"2024-10-02T16:42:20","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T20:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.communicationcoach.ca\/blog\/?p=1654"},"modified":"2024-10-02T16:42:24","modified_gmt":"2024-10-02T20:42:24","slug":"snippets-that-inspired-me-from-pinnacle-of-influence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.communicationcoach.ca\/blog\/snippets-that-inspired-me-from-pinnacle-of-influence\/","title":{"rendered":"Snippets That Inspired Me From Pinnacle of Influence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I finished reading this new book that I am a co-author of called <strong>Pinnacle of Influence, How the World\u2019s Greatest Thought Leaders Became Global Gurus<\/strong>, and wanted to give both a shout-out to the authors and add a few of my favourite snippets of their inspirational words.\u00a0 Here are some short phrases or quotes from each chapter (<em>in order<\/em>) that stuck out as inspirational for me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Chapter 1 \u2013 Mastering the Art of Leadership by Dr. Marshall Goldsmith<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cLeadership is not an inborn trait, but a skill set that can be cultivated and refined.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTraditionally, feedback\u2026focuses on what went wrong, not what can lead to future success.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe true art of leadership lies in the ability to turn vision into a reality, challenges into opportunities, and individuals into high-performing teams.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Chapter 2 \u2013 How a Thought Leader Thinks by Ron Kaufman<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cHow can I respect the past, work in the present, and contribute to a better future?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201c\u2026encouraging others is a powerful form of service.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cBecoming a thought leader requires a combination of expertise and vision.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThought leaders cannot be leaders if they only think in isolation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Chapter 3 \u2013 A Rhapsody in Failure by Arthur Carmazzi<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe power of our Life Symphony is affected by the type of music we hear.&nbsp; We live up to the expectations of our environment.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201c\u2026credibility is the currency for earning listener\u2019s trust.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIf a problem can be solved with money, it\u2019s not a problem, it\u2019s an expense.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cFailure is not the opposite of success, mediocrity is.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Chapter 4 \u2013 Transforming From an Expert to a Thought Leader by John Mattone<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201c\u2026our lives are not about us.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cGreat leadership is about having a passionate drive to change the world for the better\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIf you want others to be happy, be courteous, compassionate, and altruistic.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Chapter 5 \u2013 Positioning in Negotiations \u2013 What Matters by Greg Williams<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTiming can be a blessing and curse in a negotiation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201c\u2026he added, \u201cDon\u2019t you want to look good to the other people in the bar?\u201d \u2026and magically, he got to shine more shoes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIn a negotiation, the way you position yourself and your offer will determine how you and it are perceived.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Chapter 6 \u2013 Rising to Distinction by Jonathan Low<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201c(quoting Simon Sinek:) \u201cpeople don\u2019t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cCommunication is the heartbeat of connection.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cCommunity isn\u2019t just about the people we meet;
